Biography

Wachenfeldt was founded by Thomas von Wachenfeldt and Jon Skäre in 2012 and Martin Björklund joined shortly thereafter on lead guitar. The music is situated between death, thrash and black metal with elements of classical and Scandinavian folk music.

Wachenfeldt released their debut EP “Colophon” in 2013 on Sliptrick Records. The songs were recorded at Bowstead Studios, Gränsfors and Fear & Loathing Studios in Stockholm. Colophon was mixed and mastered by Ola Lindgren (Grave) at Studio Soulless, Stockholm and received great reviews.

The follow-up “The Interpreter” was delayed when the members were involved in a variety of projects. The singer and bassist Thomas von Wachenfeldt as arranger and bass player in Entombed’s symphonic projects with Gävle and Malmö symphony orchestras, where the latter were released as DVD and CD. The drummer Jon Skäre participated in, amongst others, Ost+Front, Defiatory, Maskinisten and Skineater and Martin Björklund toured with, amongst others, Månegarm and Mercury X.

The Interpreter was also recorded at Bowstead Studios and Fear & Loathing Studios and was mixed by Tommy Rehn (Angtoria, Corroded, The Kristet Utseende i.a.). The album was released on Threeman Recordings and received overwhelming reviews from both the underground and mainstream metal press.

The album “Faustian Reawakening” is an organic sequel to the progressiveness, rawness and dark elegance that characterized “The Interpreter”, but where these parts have been further developed and strengthened. The album also features the new guitarist Daniel Jakobsson, who also has contributed both musically and lyrically.

Both Thomas and Jon are deeply rooted in the extreme metal underground, but also to some extent the mainstream. Thomas is a member in the classic Swedish death metal outfit Wombbath and have contributed with traditional folk instruments and bass on Hulkoff’s latest albums “Pansarfolk” and “Ragnarök” which both topped the sales charts in Sweden. Jon also participates as a drummer on the latter. Jon also performs in groups such as Gore Brigade and Defiatory.
