Haystack Unveils Their Latest Single and Music Video

January 12, 2024

Press Release: Swedish rock legends, Haystack, have once again defied the boundaries of genre with their latest single, ‘Doomsday Goes Away.’ Released on January 12, 2024, this track is a foray into the uncharted and marks a daring exploration through ‘the further rock’ – beyond realms where intense, raw energy meets more than mere deep, introspective nuances.

Doomsday Goes Away resonates with resilience and introspection, delving into personal challenges and the pursuit of deeper truths. Ulf Cederlund’s signature vocals, backed by the band’s potent instrumentation, forge a sound that is simultaneously energetic and emotionally profound. This single (and live-recorded video) is not only a nod to die-hard fans of robust noisy rock; it’s also a call to those who gravitate towards the darker, more reflective facets of the genre.

Artist’s Reflection:

Cederlund articulates, ‘This song is about stripping back to our journey’s core, delivering something raw, unfiltered, and authentically rock.’ This genuineness is evident in every aspect of ‘Doomsday Goes Away.’

Unique Release Approach:

Unique to this release, Haystack presents two versions of the single – the studio version, available on all major streaming platforms, delivers a gravel-polished, studio-crushing sound. In contrast, the music video, a live recording also done at Studio Underjord by Jonas Lundberg (drums), Patrik Thorngren (bass), and Happy-Birthday-Boy-Ulf Cederlund (vocals and guitar), on October 3, 2023, where Joona Hassinen again captures the band’s beautifully raw live essence. Eschewing the norms of lip-syncing, this live version showcases Haystack’s commitment to authenticity and spontaneity.

Musical Odyssey:

Haystack’s musical odyssey, drawing from classic rock icons like AC/DC, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin, and fused with the innovative essence of Killing Joke, Joy Division, The Cure, topped with love for the likes of The Melvins, and Bleach time Nirvana, continues to redefine rock music’s boundaries. ‘Doomsday Goes Away’ stands as a testament to their evolving journey, bridging traditional rock with the broader landscape of modern alternative music.
